Install Updates for Dell Inspiron BIOS.

The basic I/O system, usually called BIOS, needs to be updated from time to time. A BIOS is a set of code or firmware independent of the operating system. It is integrated into the motherboard and can be used independently of the computer’s operating system. Hardware manufacturers such as Dell regularly publish updates for their products. So make sure there is an update available in the BIOS of your computer.

If you have never tried a BIOS update before, you can do so by clicking on the link below

  • Download and install the Dell Inspiron BIOS update

Dell InspironInstall Device Driver Updates .

Each hardware device on your Dell Inspiron computer has its own software, called firmware or drivers, to help it do its job. A driver is an important piece of software that allows Windows to communicate with hardware devices such as a graphics card, sound card, network chip, etc.. In general, Microsoft provides drivers for most devices to minimize incompatibility problems, but drivers for specific devices can also be provided by the hardware manufacturers themselves. This type of driver can only be downloaded from the manufacturer’s website. Keep in mind that your computer may not work properly without the right drivers. In this way, as in the BIOS, device drivers can be updated to correct known errors and further improve device performance.

Follow this link to download and install Dell drivers.

Make sure your Dell Inspiron PC is well ventilated.

As a living being, your computer needs to breathe to function properly. Not for nothing are computers, whether laptops or desktops, equipped with built-in ventilation. The CPU, RAM and other components can generate heat during operation, so the engineers must ensure that there is a flow of air to dissipate the heat to the circuit board. Closing the ventilation openings can cause overheating, which in turn can lead to loss of performance and unintentional shutdown. The processors are designed to slow down considerably in the event of overheating to prevent damage to the equipment.

Dust can clog the ventilation openings during overtime. Therefore, be sure to use your computer in a dust-free environment. If you notice that the fan is running continuously, this may indicate that your computer’s vents are blocked.

The cleaning of the Dell PC’s vents depends on the model. However, below are some general rules you should follow when cleaning your Dell computer for dust or lint:

  1. Always turn off your computer. Make sure the power cord is disconnected.
  2. Use a compressed air canister to remove dust or dirt from the ventilation openings.

NOT:

  • Blow the dust away with your mouth. This way you can distribute the moisture randomly. Moisture can damage the parts permanently.
  • Use vacuum cleaners and blowers to prevent the buildup of static electricity. Excessive static electricity can cause irreparable damage to electronic or electrical components.

Make sure there is enough free space on the main disk.

The hard drive should always occupy at least 20% of free space to minimize slow performance. While the primary function of a hard drive is to store files and programs, Windows can also use it for other purposes. For example, Windows can use the available disk space to store temporary files (caching) and run processes from RAM (virtual memory). If the hard drive is always almost full, caching and virtual memory may not work properly, slowing down the entire system considerably. If you have a hard drive of 500 GB, make sure you have at least 100 GB available free of charge.

To free up hard disk space, you can try these three methods:

  • delete
  • minimizes the number of waste files by activating erase.

Remove applications you do not need

Installed applications can take up most of the space on your Dell Inspiron hard drive. If you tend to install programs, forget them, it’s time for a change. Start by deleting games you no longer play. Depending on the list of applications, you should only leave applications that you use regularly.

Uninstall an application : 1 :

  1. Press the key with the Windows + R logo on the keyboard.
  2. In the Start appwiz.cpl dialog box, type appwiz.cpl and press Enter.
  3. Select the program from the list and click Delete.

UseCleaning the disc

Disk creation is a useful utility that allows you to easily remove unnecessary temporary files from your system. To start cleaning the discs : 1 :

  1. Press the Start button. In the Clear Disks search box, type Discs and select Clear Discs from the list of results.
  2. When prompted, select the disc you want to remove and press OK.
  3. It’s usually a C: Ritt.
  4. When the scan is complete, select the check boxes corresponding to the file types you want to delete and click OK.
  5. Click Delete Files in the confirmation window.

RunSupportAssist to improve the performance of your Dell InspironPC.

Dell comes with a SupportAssist application that allows you to check the integrity of system files and determine if any changes have been made to folder and file settings. This application can optimize your computer to run faster by deleting temporary files, adjusting system performance and optimizing your network.

  1. Find SupportAssist and open it.
  2. Click on the tile Optimize my system.
  3. On the Home tab, under Optimize network, click Run Now.

When the optimization is complete, the Check icon and the date of the last optimization are displayed on the tile.

WindowsChange performance settings

The Microsoft Windows operating system supports visual functions and animations that can easily affect PC performance. To ensure that all your computer resources are allocated for maximum performance, turn off animations and Windows features you don’t need. If you don’t know how Windows will evolve afterwards, you can choose to focus on performance over and above the default Windows settings, which allow for animation and visual effects. Follow these steps to do so:

  1. Press the Windows + R key on the keyboard.
  2. In the Start dialog box, type sysdm.cpl and press Enter.
  3. Click on the Advanced tab
  4. In the Performance section, click Settings.
  5. On the Visual Effects tab, select parameter for best performance.

Increasing the page file size (virtual memory)

The paging file, also called virtual memory or paging file, is an extension of your computer’s RAM memory. Virtual memory is useful if your PC regularly needs more RAM to process more applications at the same time. Virtual memory is started when the amount of RAM becomes low. When this happens, the data stored in the RAM is transferred to the virtual memory of the hard drive, allowing for more intensive use of the RAM.

Normally Windows handles the exchange file automatically, but you can change it manually if you need more. Make sure the size of your RAM does not exceed three times the size of the original. For example, if your Dell PC has 4 GB of RAM, the maximum size of virtual memory should not exceed three times this value. In our example, 4 GB corresponds to 4092 megabyte (MB). The amount of RAM should therefore be 12,288 megabytes (MB).

To change the virtual memory of your computer: 1 :

  1. Press the Windows + R key on the keyboard.
  2. In the Start sysdm.cpl dialog box, type sysdm.cpl and press Enter.
  3. Click on the Advanced tab.
  4. In the Performance section, click Settings.
  5. On the Advanced tab, in the Virtual Memory section, click Edit.
  6. Disable the option to automatically manage the size of the page file for all drives.
  7. Select the station that contains the paging file you want to edit.
  8. Click the Custom Size button, type the new size in megabytes in the Start Size (MB) and Max Size (MB) boxes.
  9. Click Install and then click OK.

Set the original size (Mb) based on the total RAM capacity.

Testing for malware or viral infections

A common reason why computers currently tend to lag far behind may be the presence of viruses or malware. Some forms of malware affect performance because they run invisibly in the background. Some of these malicious programs use a considerable amount of resources to monitor your browsing behavior or to display advertisements.

To make sure your PC is clean, follow these steps:

  • Install updates for Windows, applications and security software
  • Regularly perform full system scans
  • avoid the installation of illegal or hacked software

If you do not have antivirus software installed, you can ensure that Microsoft Windows Defender can provide basic malware protection. You can also use free antivirus software on your Dell computer. Some antivirus programs require a subscription, although they can be installed free of charge, such as Trend Micro, Norton, McAfee and others.

Don’t forget that having multiple antivirus programs on your system can do more harm than good. Don’t forget to remove one if you want to use another. For example, if you still have the basic software McAfee, but if you want to switch to Norton, you need to uninstall the first software.

Scanning for damaged files in Windows

Sometimes Windows files can get corrupted after an update or after using certain software. If you find that your Dell PC has slow performance issues and the above steps have not helped at all, this may be due to an operating system issue. This problem may be related to corrupted operating system files. To perform a quick check, follow these steps:

  1. Reboot your Dell Inspiron computer.
  2. Click the Windows Start button.
  3. Search for PDC or command line.
  4. Right-click on the command line and choose Run as Administrator.
  5. Click Yes in the User Account Management window.
  6. Enter sfc /scannow in the command line (there must be a space between sfc and /) and press Enter on the keyboard.
  7. This will only take a few minutes.
  8. When the scan is complete, restart the computer.

If the System File Checker (SFC) detects damaged files, it will try to replace them. Make sure you restart the computer afterwards. However, if the System File Checker (SFC) does not detect damaged files, you can use the Deployment Image Servicing and Management (DISM) program. DISM first performs a thorough analysis of the system files and then uses Windows Update to download replacement files for the detected damaged files. Here’s the thing:

  1. Reboot your Dell Inspiron computer.
  2. Click the Windows Start button.
  3. Search for PDC or command line.
  4. Right-click on the command line and choose Run as Administrator.
  5. Click Yes in the User Account Management window.
  6. On the command line , type dism.exe /Online /Cleanup image /Restorehealth (there must be a space between / on the command line) and press the Enter key on the keyboard.
  7. This will only take a few minutes.
  8. Once the scan is complete, restart your computer.

Frequent computer reboot

If you tend to run your Dell Inspiron PC all the time, a reboot can help resolve slow performance issues. A simple reboot erases the RAM memory and eliminates the errors that occur. The longer your PC runs (and we are talking about days or weeks, not hours), the greater the chance that the memory runs out. Don’t forget to restart it at least once a week.

Re-installation of the Windowsoperating system

If your Dell Inspiron PC still lags behind at this stage, you should consider a more radical and cleaner Windows installation.

Add RAM

If the Dell PC is still experiencing delays or performance issues after reinstalling Windows, the memory may be low. Let’s consider updating his memory to make sure the situation changes. Removing the RAM chip/circuit requires a special procedure, so consult Dell before doing so. Also don’t forget to check the type of memory you install and the maximum amount of RAM your computer model can support. You can read the manual or ask Dell.

Some Dell laptops have permanent RAM chips built into the motherboard, so you can’t replace their RAM chips. If you have a laptop, talk to Dell first.
