How to Fix Avast Keeps Getting Off By Itself Issue

Avast is a popular Internet security application developed by Avast for Microsoft Windows, MacOS, Android and iOS. There is a free and a paid version that protects your computer against online threats. Although it is a software with reliable performance, sometimes there are some problems that we will solve today. In this last part of our series of articles on problem solving, we will look at the issue of the spontaneous deactivation of Avast.

Before performing any of the recommended troubleshooting steps below, it is best to restart your computer. This action updates the operating system and temporarily deletes damaged data that may be causing the problem.

  • Open the Avast user interface by clicking on the icon in the notification area or by finding it in the Start menu.

Make sure the aswbIDSAgent service on your computer is running under.

The aswbIDSAgent service, also known as Avast Identity Protection Service, is a new proactive protection feature that protects users against new and unknown malware.

  • Open the start dialog by pressing the Windows + R keys.
  • Type services.msc without quotes in the Run dialog box and click OK to open the services settings.
  • Find the aswbIDSAgent service, right-click on it and select Properties from the context menu that appears on the screen.
  • If the service is stopped, you have to make it stop. If it is running, click the Stop button and wait for the service to stop before proceeding to the next step.
  • Make sure that the option in the Startup Type section of the aswbIDSAgent service properties is set to Automatic before clicking the Start button to restart the service.

If you get an error from Windows, Windows cannot start the aswbIDSAgent service on your local computer. Error 1079 : The account specified for this service is different from the account specified for other services running in the same process when you run the service, and then follow these steps

  • Open the start dialog by pressing the Windows + R keys.
  • Type services.msc without quotes in the Run dialog box and click OK to open the services settings.
  • Find the aswbIDSAgent service, right-click on it and select Properties from the context menu that appears on the screen.
  • Go to the Login tab and click Browse…
  • In the Enter the name of the object to select box, type in the username of your computer, click Check Name and wait for the name to be verified.
  • Click OK when finished and type the administrator password in the Password field when prompted.

Make sure that Avast continues to close its doors on its own initiative, but the problem has still not been solved.

If the above steps do not solve the problem, consider reinstalling Avast.

Avast Repair

  • To open the Settings application, click on the cog icon in the lower left corner of the Start menu.
  • Click on Apps. You should immediately open a list of all applications and tools installed on your computer, so wait until you have downloaded them.
  • Find Avast in the Control Panel or Settings and click the Edit button. Follow all instructions that appear before repair.
  • Check if the same problem still exists with the Avast shield.

Reinstall Avast

  • Download the latest version of the Avast installation from the official website
  • Download the Avast uninstaller from the official website
  • After downloading this file, disconnect from the Internet and switch to secure mode.

To start in secure mode

  • Press the Windows key → On/Off.
  • Hold down the Shift key and press Restart.
  • Select the Troubleshooting option and then the Advanced option.
  • Go to the Advanced Options section and click the Startup Settings button.
  • In the Startup Settings section, click Restart.
  • Various download options are displayed. The corresponding options for charging in protected mode are numbers 4, 5 or 6. Select an option by pressing one of the numbers or the function key F4, F5 or F6.
  • Windows 10 is now running in secure mode.
  • Launch the Avast uninstaller and locate the folder where you installed Avast. If you have installed it in the default folder, you can save it.
  • Click the Delete button and restart the computer by rebooting during normal startup.

Installing Avast

  • Download the Avast installation file from the official website.
  • Run the downloaded file and follow the steps to install Avast.

Make sure that Avast continues to close its doors on its own initiative, but the problem has still not been solved.
